This two-credit course is designed to introduce participants who are about to conduct English language education research in connection with their study as a requirement for graduate (S2) program. This course provides students with knowledge of theoretical framework, a process, and conceptual approaches for designing a qualitative and classroom action research in EFL teaching. The focus of the course is on methods frequently used in language educations, applied linguistics, and language teaching. This is a lecture course in which topics are presented through lecture, inquiry process, discussion, seminar, and workshop. The teacher highlights the topics and the theories with examples. In this course, students participate in the learning teaching activities by summarizing, commenting and presenting qualitative research methods in applied linguistics and language education. Analysis includes rationale and research problems, research objectives, research method and design, research instruments, data collection methods and analyses. At the end of the meeting, students will write a research proposal applying a certain research approach.
